 The IPL (Indian Premier League) is a professional cricket league in India. Generally, it is contested in the months of March to May every year. The total number of IPL teams participating in the league is 10 and their names are based on either names of the states or the names capitals of different Indian States. The IPL league was founded by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) in the year 2008 and it was the first professional T20 Cricket league in the world.

This year the IPL is scheduled for 22nd March 2024 to 7th April 2024 (the BCCI awaits confirmation of Indian general election 2024 dates before finalizing the full IPL schedule). The opening game of the tournament this year will be played between the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on 22nd March at 6.30 pm in MA Chidambaram Chepauk Stadium, Chennai.
